Celine Dion
Hot off her Las Vegas show and
headed to a venue near you!
Celine Dion, a native of Quebec, Canada, is a talented singer with a powerful voice that is known all over the world, in both French and English. Dion's popularity is so prevalent that she even won the Chopard Diamond Award for being "one of the world's biggest-selling artists ever" from the World Music Awards in 2007.
Celine is the youngest of fourteen children born in a very loving and musically inclined family. In fact, Celine's namesake comes from a French song by Hugues Aufray. Celine's training came while performing songs in her parents' piano bar 'Le Vieux Baril' as a child, which lead to her recording her first song which was written for her by her mother and her brother Jacques. This caught the attention of manager and future husband Rene Angelil, who was moved to tears when he first heard the song. Celine Dion recorded her first album at age twelve and would become an instant star in her native Quebec.
After seeing Michael Jackson on TV, Celine decided that she wanted to be as big of an international pop star as he was and so, after studying English for a year, Celine was ready to take on the American music industry. Her first English album did fairly well, but Celine garnered the most attention for her duet with Peabo Bryson for the title track off of the Disney animated feature "Beauty and the Beast." With her American crossover in place, Celine went on to marry her manager Rene and produce a new album called "The Colour of My Love" which she dedicated to him.
What followed was a string of hit albums and songs including "Because You Loved Me," "All By Myself," "It's All Coming Back to Me Now," and "That's The Way it Is." She reached the height of stardom when she recorded the song "My Heart Will Go On" for the 1997 blockbuster movie "Titanic" and furthered her appeal to American audiences when she was picked to perform on VH1's Divas Live alongside Aretha Franklin, Gloria Estefan, Shania Twain and Mariah Carey. Despite being at the height of popularity, Celine put her career on hold in 2000 to be with her husband and family after he became sick with cancer.
In 2002 she announced her return to live music after striking a deal with Cesear's Palace in Las Vegas to do a three-year, 600 show commitment for the casino. After selling out nearly every night for five years, Celine Dion once more returned to the recording studio to record 2007's "Taking Chances." With the new album comes a new tour, her first in several years. You no longer have to go to Las Vegas to see this talented singer, just get your tickets from Big Time Worldwide!
